A visa today. Settlement in five years. UK, EU, Canadian, US or Korean passport soon after.
Residence visas are a long game and the route you pick today determines the timeline. I have filed UK Spouse visas at the new £29,000 income threshold, Innovator Founder routes for Pakistani entrepreneurs, Spanish Non-Lucrative for retired civil servants, Italian Elective Residence for families with rental income from Karachi, Canada Express Entry profiles for STEM applicants targeting PR-on-grant, US EB-2 NIW self-petitions for researchers, South Korea F-2 transitions for E-7 holders, and Hungary/Lithuania EU Long-Term Resident files for early-career professionals using low-threshold Blue Cards as EU stepping stones. The cheapest path to permanent residence is not always the obvious one. We map five years ahead before we file the first application.

Birth, marriage and civil-status certificates — apostilled and translated
Police clearance from every country lived in 6+ months for the past 10 years
Medical certificate or insurance covering the destination
Proof of income or savings at or above the route's threshold
Accommodation evidence — rental contract or property deed in the destination
Tax returns from your country of residence for 2–3 years where applicable
Sponsor's income, tax and identity documents for family routes
Business plan, IHK opinion or endorsing body letter for self-employed routes
Language certificate where the route requires it
The process
How a residence application unfolds
01
Route selection
We score your profile across family, work-derived, self-employed and investor routes. The winning route is the one that gets you to permanent residence soonest with the lowest legal risk.
02
Long-game financial planning
We map your income, savings and tax position to the route's threshold for the next five years, not just year one. This matters because renewals fail more often than first applications.
03
File build & embassy or local filing
Some routes require an entry visa filed at the embassy; others are filed at the local town hall or immigration office on arrival. We brief you on the exact filing order and accompany the application.
04
Renewals & path to permanent
We track your renewal windows, language exam dates, tax filing deadlines and continuous-residence absences. At year five, we file the long-term residence application. At year five or ten, the naturalisation pack.
Risk management
Why residence visas get refused (and how we head it off)
Refusals follow patterns. Here are the patterns we see most often, and the steps we take to head them off.
Common refusal reason
UK Spouse sponsor income didn't consistently meet £29,000 across the qualifying period
How we prevent it
Before submission I audit six full months of payslips, P60s, and Self-Assessment tax returns for the sponsor. If the income trend dips below £29,000 in any one month, I either delay submission until the rolling average clears, or supplement with the £88,500 savings route. Each route has its own pitfalls and we time the application around bonus months, leave gaps and tax year boundaries.
Common refusal reason
Investor visa file didn't establish lawful source of funds
How we prevent it
The Italian Investor Visa Committee and the Greek Golden Visa scrutiny both ask for paper trail on every layer of capital, not just the final account balance. Full source-of-funds dossier includes Pakistani tax returns for three years, FBR clearance, sale deed copies for any property liquidated, business income statements, and notarised statements explaining any large credit. This work happens before we file, not after a query.
Common refusal reason
Continuous-residence rule broken by long visits to Pakistan
How we prevent it
Most permanent-residence routes cap absences at 6 months consecutive and 10 months total per qualifying cycle. UK ILR is stricter at 180 days per rolling 12-month period. We calendar your travel a year ahead, flag the risky months, and apply for re-entry permits where the law allows them. Many clients lose their settlement clock on the last trip home before applying for PR. We've seen it.
Common refusal reason
Marriage didn't read as 'genuine and subsisting' to the visa officer
How we prevent it
Pakistani Spouse visa cases need a different evidence depth than Western applicants. UKVI looks for joint bills, tenancy or housing, travel records, communication history, and witness statements from family. We coach the cover letter to read like a real life, not a checklist. The Nikah certificate alone is never enough. The story of how the couple met, courted, married and lives is what wins these cases.

Country-specific guidance
Each country page below covers the same service under the destination's own law, thresholds and timelines.
Questions we hear from new clients almost every week.
Ireland on a Critical Skills Employment Permit is the fastest realistic option. CSEP holders move to Stamp 4 at 21 months and qualify for long-term residence at 5 years. Germany on the EU Blue Card with B1 German hits Niederlassungserlaubnis at 21 months too, though the German level requirement adds time on the front end. The UK Innovator Founder route can deliver ILR in 3 years if the founder meets the business-growth tests, but the tests are demanding. Spain and Italy both require 5 years; Italy then needs another 5 for citizenship, so the EU-passport timeline is 10 years there.
Pakistan allows dual citizenship with sixteen countries including the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, Spain, Canada, USA and Australia. After June 2024 Germany also permits dual citizenship for new naturalisations, removing the historic requirement to renounce. Australia has permitted dual citizenship since 2002 with no requirement to renounce Pakistani nationality. Check Pakistan's bilateral list on the Ministry of Interior website before you commit; it does get updated occasionally.
Spain abolished the property-based Golden Visa in April 2025. Portugal restricted property routes in 2023 but kept the investment-fund golden visa at €500,000. Greece raised the property threshold from €250,000 to €500,000 in 2024 for popular areas. Malta and Hungary maintain investor schemes at different price points. Italy's Investor Visa at €250,000 into an innovative startup or €500,000 into a corporate investment is the cheapest live programme right now. We only file routes that are currently lawful; we don't market schemes that were closed last year.
Yes. Spouses and minor children get dependant residence permits tied to the principal applicant. After 5 years of legal residence (or sooner in some countries), each family member qualifies independently for permanent residence based on their own continuous-stay clock. After 6 years on a UK Spouse visa, the spouse qualifies for ILR even if the British citizen partner has moved abroad. After 5 years of legal residence in Germany, the spouse qualifies for Niederlassungserlaubnis in their own right. Family rights become independent over time.
Most work-derived residence routes allow a grace period to find new employment without losing status. UK Skilled Worker: 60 days to find a new sponsor or leave. German Blue Card: 3 months grace. Dutch HSM: 3 months. Australia Subclass 189/190 has no grace period because there's no sponsor — you have permanent residence on grant and can change employer freely. Subclass 491 regional holders need to maintain regional residence and income; we plan that 3-year window before lodging the EOI. Ireland CSEP after Stamp 4: no employer dependency, you're free to work for anyone. I brief every client on this on day one so if it happens, they know to call me before the clock starts.
